Within CAT ART, you may encounter works that feel strangely familiar — yet belong to a world all their own.

Now, step into the world of CAT ART created by Shu Yamamoto.

CAT WORLD

A world where cats live, and where feline artists known as CAT ARTISTS have created countless works of art.

Some of their masterpieces may look strangely familiar.

HUMAN WORLD

The world where humans live, and where artists have created the masterpieces we know today.

The artworks and artists familiar to us belong to this world.

CAT WORLD and HUMAN WORLD.

Across these two worlds, there are artworks that look mysteriously alike.

Which came first?
Why are they so similar?

No one knows the answer.

HOW TO PLAY

CAT ART CARD can be enjoyed with just one card, or with a growing collection.

Start with a single card.

GAME 1 | LOOK. GUESS. FLIP!

1 | LOOK

Take a close look at the front of the card.

The cats’ expressions, poses, clothing, background, composition and colors may hold clues that connect the artwork to HUMAN WORLD.

2 | GUESS

What is the artwork called in HUMAN WORLD?

Who is the ARTIST?

When was it created?

Make your guess before flipping the card.

3 | FLIP!

Ready?

Flip the card and check the HUMAN WORLD side to discover the answer.

And don’t forget to look at the CAT ARTIST.

What kind of name does the artist have in CAT WORLD?

GAME 2 | WHICH CAME FIRST?

Once you have two or more cards, use the YEAR information to play.

Choose two cards and compare the artworks from HUMAN WORLD.

Which artwork was created first?

Make your guess, then check the YEAR on the back of the cards.

GAME 3 | ART TIMELINE

As your collection grows, try arranging the HUMAN WORLD artworks in chronological order.

First, look only at the front of the cards and arrange them from oldest to newest.

Then flip the cards and check the YEAR.

Can you place them all in the correct order?

The more cards you collect, the more challenging the game becomes.

While playing, you may naturally discover different periods and movements in art history.

BONUS | ART DISCOVERY

After the game, take another look at the artworks from both worlds.

How are the cats posed?
What about their clothing and backgrounds?
